My story in this anthology, “Lyd, Not Lydia,” takes place in a modern setting and focuses on the youngest Bennet sibling. High school sophomore Lyd Bennet is thrilled to get their first kiss at a college party they sneak into while visiting their boring sister Lizzy. Things with the guy they kissed, frat bro George Wickham, seem great . . . until Lyd comes out as nonbinary.

My story in this anthology, “Clothes That Fit,” is a prequel to a novel I’ve written but haven’t published yet. In it, an autistic teenager named Jae comes out to their friends as nonbinary, and their friends express their support by taking Jae thrift shopping for new, more masculine clothes. It’s a low-stakes, joyful tale of acceptance and friendship at the intersection of autism and trans identity, which the entire anthology explores via YA short fiction in a variety of genres. My fantasy short story “Gradual” appeared in The Metaworker in June 2026. “Gradual” is a piece of flash fiction, meaning it’s under 1,000 words. It tells an expansive story in few words; it’s about the transformative power of creativity, and it’s eerie and weird but still beautiful. Read it here.
